Skinny Tan | Instant Tanner Review

Hand’s up who else is SO ready for summer right now? It feels like the winter has been ordinarily long, and I am desperately craving some sunshine, as is my whiter than white skin. Now, I’m pale at the best of times, and so use a daily gradual tanner to take the starkness away, however if I’m going out, I want a product that will add that extra hint of colour, without looking too orange. Plus I don’t want to be spending hours with a tanning mit either.

Step forward Instant Tanner* by Skinny Tan- the 'Dragon's Den' tanning brand who pride themselves on being paragon free, vegan friendly and made from 99% naturally derived ingredients. I haven’t used an instant tanner since I was a teenager, and if I’m honest I didn’t have the best of experiences back then, so was slightly dubious ahead of using this. So how does this compare? And does it give me the bronzed limbs that I long for? The first thing to mention is the packaging as it is super cute- each of the brand's products is a different colour or shade, this time a sugary pink, plus it comes in a matching box which gives that extra value for money/ more luxe element.

This lotion has Skinny Tan's signature coconut scent, as well as the naturally derived smoothing oils found in all of the brand's products- these help to contour the skin and give a slimmer appearance, hence the name. It has a really thick, buttery texture, which I did not expect at all, and I guess I would describe it as makeup for the skin.

To apply, I use with the Dual Tanning Mitt, also from Skinny Tan. It's double sided, with each being super velvety and soft, making seamless blending a breeze. I squeeze a small amount of the product onto the mitt, then apply to clean, moisturised skin in circular motions, paying special attention to my knees, ankles and elbows. The product is fairly matte which looks so natural on the skin, and it dries more or less instantly so you are almost good to go straight away!

One of my favourite things about the Instant Tanner is that it can be used on the face as well as the body, so is perfect underneath makeup to give your skin a slight glow. It doesn't contain any tanners, meaning it can be washed off after use- I was nervous that this could be problematic in the rain, but it really does take a lot of buffing and shower gel to remove, so no need to worry. l would say once it's on, it's on for good until you next shower.

Skinny Tan's Instant Tanner comes in original, dark and also shimmer, for a bronzed finish with a hint of highlight, and all retail for £9.99. Plus for a limited time only, you can get the original instant tanner in the 'Pretty in Pink' kit which also includes the Salon Effects tan, tanning mit, mini mit and roller tan. The kit has a value of £50, but you can get it for £26.99. Hurry though- the offer ends at midnight on 14th February!

Have you tried any of Skinny Tan's products?
