Skincare | Herbalife Skin Review

In my ongoing quest for perfect skin, over the past 6 weeks I've been using some products from Herbalife SKIN*- a brand that promises fast results for younger, more beautiful skin. Sounds too good to be true, right? I was lucky enough to try the brands polishing citrus cleanser, firming eye gel, daily glow moisturiser and replenishing night cream, and today's post is a little round up of my thoughts on the products.

I'd not heard of this brand before receiving the products, but its philosophy of 'mixing ingredients, botanicals and extracts with proven science for a luxurious daily experience' really appealed to me, especially because they call the products 'skin care nutrition.' We nourish our bodies with nutrients, so it seems silly that we don't always do the same with our skin.

First up, the cleanser, which retails for £19.25. As the name suggests, it has a gorgeous, refreshing, citrus scent, and contains microbeads which gently exfoliate without being too harsh or abrasive. Being someone who has suffered with spots over the years, I was so impressed to hear that has been clinically tested and shows a reduction in the skin's sebum (the oily substance secreted by the skin that can cause spots) after just one use, and I have to say after use my skin feels refreshed, clean and fairly matte. I'm not a huge fan of a foaming cleanser, but this products has a gel formula which thoroughly cleanses without minimal foaming which pleased me a lot. It's designed to be used twice a day- in the morning and the evening- and unlike many other new brands I try, it hasn't irritated my skin at all. I love the fact it gently exfoliates thanks to the micro beads, and the patches around my nose and chin which are always very dry feel a lot softer since using this.

When it comes to skincare, I often neglect my eye area, and most of the time it's because I simply forget, and instead just quickly dab any excess moisturiser around them without giving them the care and attention they need. I've been using the Herbalife firming eye gel on the delicate skin around my eyes twice a day and it really has given them the boost they need and provides a great base for my eye makeup. Plus over time it helps to improve the skin's elasticity and therefore the appearance of the area which, as someone in their thirties, is very much needed! This eye gel has cucumber extract in it which I find really soothing (especially when I'm tired or hungover) plus as with all of Herbalife's product, it's paraben free. It retails for £30.30.

The daily glow moisturiser has to be my favourite of all of the Herbalife's products I've tried. If I had to re buy only one, it would be this. Firstly, as the name suggests, it has a subtle glow to it, which makes the face look extra dewy and healthy. It is packed with antioxidant vitamins and really sinks into the skin with ease, providing the perfect base for makeup, and clinical tests show that in just 7 days, fine lines and wrinkles decrease, skin looks more glowing, and its moisture is doubled for eight hours. As someone that suffers with dry patches, this is a real plus! It's hard to measure your own lines and wrinkles, but I definitely think that my skin feels softer and glows more than it did before I started using it which makes the £37.55 price tag well worth it. The only downside to this product is that, along with the night cream and eye cream, it comes in an airless pump- I like to be able to see exactly how much of the product I have left (and cut it open to get the last drop out!) and find this difficult with this kind of packaging.

Like the daily glow moisturiser, the replenishing night cream (RRP £37.55is full of vitamins, as well as sesame seed oil and flower extracts, which make it gorgeously fragranced as well as rich and luxurious. Although I prefer my day moisturiser to be fairly light, when it comes to a night cream I like it to be thick as I feel like my skin always needs a really good drink at nighttime, and this certainly sinks into my skin with ease, and does not clog my pores or feel too greasy, which I often find with other nighttime moisturisers. Like the day cream, this promises that skin complexion will be improved in just one week, and its moisture doubled for eight hours.

Overall, I'm so impressed with the products, and particularly love the fact that they have so many nutrients in them as opposed to nasty parabens and chemicals- my skin really feels like it's being nourished and I definitely wake up feeling glowing. All of the products sink into the skin rather than sitting on top of it, and provide the perfect base, whether you are wearing makeup or going for a fresh faced, natural look.
