Makeup & Skincare | September Favourites

I say it every month but...how is it October already? It feels like this year has flown by, and each month seems to go by even quicker. Autumn for me means a lot more nights in (who wants to socialise when it's dark and cold outside anyway?) and in turn this means more pampering. There really is nothing better than lighting some candles, running a bath and trying out some new beauty products- in fact I think I probably spend more on products during the winter months. My favourites from September are a combination of skincare and makeup, most of which are new to me, and I adore them all so much that I wanted to share my thoughts with you all.

First up on my monthly favourites list is this anti aging sheet mask by Timeless Truth. Having won silver in the Pure Beauty award in 2014, I was really excited to try it, especially as sheet masks seem to be everywhere at the moment. It contains lots of highly active ingredients including apple stem cells which not only help to repair damaged skin, but also claims to delay and reduce the early signs of aging. This mask really molds to the face, and after removal, my face felt slightly tingly, but also rejuvenated and renewed. At £7.90 per sheet (or £38.50 for a box of 5) this may be more expensive that other sheet masks on the market, however it is still a lot cheaper than a facial, plus my skin felt just as good afterwards. I may treat myself to one every couple of months, when I feel like my skin needs a boost.

Laura Mercier Translucent Powder
I was obsessed with this powder at the beginning of the year, however after running out, I moved onto a cheaper alternative before re buying it a couple of weeks ago. I decided to include it in my favourites as it is just so amazing, and of all the products I recommend this is one that I really, really love. Being translucent, it works with pretty much every single skin tone, and it sinks into the skin with ease to leave a velvety finish. After applying my foundation (double wear by Estee Lauder), I apply all over the face with a large powder brush, paying special attention to my t zone. It keeps my makeup in place all day, and provides the perfect base my other powder products, including eyeshadow.

The English Soap Company Bluebell Soap
Now I'm usually more of a liquid soap fan, but how gorgeous and quintessentially British is this bluebell soap packaging? At first I thought it may just sit on my bathroom shelf unused, looking all pretty, but I've been using it over the past couple of weeks and adore the bluebell scent, which the makers say is 'generously perfumed to provide a luxurious fragrance.' Unlike other soaps, it doesn't dry my hands out, and infact, leave them lovely and soft thanks to the shea butter and essential oils.
These multi use balms have becoming a firm handbag essential of mine for the past month, and I cannot recommend them enough! I always go on about how I love a multi use product, and these are just that. The original (yellow) balm is fragrance free, and can be used for lips, skin hair and cuticles to name a few, and it not only moisturises, but also soothes dry or irritated skin. Original is my day to day essential, but I've also been using the tinted peach pink balm which has the same amazing properties, but with a hint of buildable colour. It looks great on lips on it's own, or over a lipstick, plus it can also be used on cheeks as an alternative to blusher. The award winning balms retail for around £6.95, and are made in the UK from natural ingredients including paw paw (hence the name) which has healing properties.

Fab Step by Step Trio Contour Kit
It seems that contouring isn't going anywhere, and having pretty much used up all of my favourite shades in my Anastasia Beverly Hills powder contour palette, I was delighted to get my hands on this one by Fab. It contains 3 powders- a dark brown to contour, mid brown to define and a highlight powder as well. The mirrored compact has a step by step guide inside, comes with a handy little brush as well, and is the perfect size for handbags if you need to freshen up throughout the day.

These brushes will not only give you the most flawless base, but a percentage of sales goes to the Look Good Feel Better charity, which supports women with cancer. The brushes are made from extremely soft, synethic bristles, which helps to apply cream based foundation with ease, and streak free. They also come in a handy little pouch, perfect for travel and also to keep your brushes clean in your makeup bag.
