Spectrum Collections | 10 piece 'essential makeup brush set' review

Makeup brush brand of the moment (and my personal favourite), Spectrum Collections kindly send me their 10 piece essential set a couple of weeks ago, so today's post is dedicated to them and their amazingly pretty brushes.

So first things first- why are Spectrum my favourite brand when it comes to makeup brushes? Well not only do they offer the most Instagrammable brushes on the planet, but they are also 100% cruelty free and vegan, as they are made from the highest quality synthetic hair (which is super soft, btw.) The company was set up a couple of years ago by lovely sisters Hannah & Sophie, and before long, their striking and instantly recognizable two tone bristles and contrast handles, were pretty much all over social media.

Spectrum offer some amazing sets, such as the mermaid inspired Glam Clam, bloggers favourite Marble Set and brand new Bombshell Set which all have lovely colour combinations, but the 10 piece essential set is in the classic Spectrum colours- pastel pink handles with blue and purple ombre bristles. The best selling brush set won a Cosmopolitan Beauty Award this year, and contains every brush you could possibly need to create amazing makeup looks- from eyes, to lips and cheeks, and everything in between. Yep- whether you want a sexy smoky eye, bold 'Kylie Jenner- esk' lips, or just a flawless base, this set has it all, as it contains 3 face brushes, 6 for eyes and brows and a lip brush as well. Bought separately, the brushes would cost just under £60, however at £39.99, the 10 piece essential set is amazing value as you are essentially getting some of the brushes for free.

Despite the amazing prices, the brushes themselves look and feel expensive- they have a weightiness to them which you don't often find with brushes in the same price bracket, and as mentioned before, the synthetic hair used is such good quality and so soft- almost like real hair to the touch, and picks up, blends and buffs products with ease.

I've been using the brushes daily for the past few weeks and not only are they looking so pretty on my dressing table, but they are really good. Like, REALLY good. Some of my favourites are the flat top buffer which is perfect for blending out cream contour, the small angled blended which is great for creating smoky eyes, and the angled eyeliner brush with makes eyeliner flicks a breeze! I love the fact that you can use both cream and powder products with these brushes, and being synthetic they are so easy to clean. I use a baby shampoo and leave them to dry naturally, but Spectrum also offer a brush soap and cleansing tool combo which makes keeping your brushes clean and fresh completely hassle free.

Have you tried Spectrum Brushes?
