Skincare | OSKIA Micro Exfoliating Balm Review

The older I've got, the more important skincare has become in my everyday routine. Gone are the days when I would remove my makeup with a baby wipe, then slap on a bit of E45 cream if I remembered. Being in my thirties, I am now trying to reverse the damage of all the sunbeds I carelessly went on as a teenager, and all the nights I couldn't be bothered to take my makeup off, whilst preventing any further damage. These days, I'm happy to spend as much money on skincare as I do makeup, after all, we wear our faces everyday. I also like to rotate the products I use to ensure that my skin doesn't become too used to any of them, plus I'm always on the hunt for new brands to try and also new 'miracle products' that will make my skin look amazing.

Step forward my new skincare obsession- Oskia exfoliating balm. The premium skincare product has won a whole host of beauty awards, and has been featured in practically every high end magazine as 'the product you need to buy.' So what makes it so special? For starters, it contains key vitamins, minerals and prebiotcs which all help to not only stimulate collagen production, but also restore the skin's layers, which is something that not many other products on the market claim to do. Plus, it's £48 price point may seem expensive, but compared to other products that offer the same benefits, it is actually very reasonable.

It has a balm like texture with tiny exfoliating particles in it which are so gentle on the skin- I often find that exfoliating products really scratch my skin but this offers just the right amount of texture, without leaving your skin red raw! To use, take the provided spatula and apply a small amount to wet skin in circular motions- then rinse off with warm water. The great thing about this product is that you can adapt it to become as light or heavy as desired- just add more water to dissolve the granules and you are left with a light cleansing milk which glides over the skin. From the first use my skin felt so clean and looked so much brighter- I really get the feeling that this is getting right into my pores and removing any dirt. After the first week of using this I actually came out in pimples on my chin, however ironically that's a good sign as it means that the product had drawn all of the impurities out of my skin. Designed to be used 2-3 times a week, I have now been using this for over a month and I'm happy to say that I've had no more spots, and I feel feel that my skin is glowing and looks so much more radiant than usual. The mix of lychee, peppermint and organic rose make it smell divine, and just like sherbet- it's almost good enough to eat!

So, are there any downsides to this product? So far, none that I've come across. As mentioned I've been using it for a month, and I usually find that's long enough for my skin to get used to a product and to start seeing the benefits and any improvements to the texture and appearance of my skin, plus to notice any things I don't like about a product. Apart from my little breakout in the first week (trying to cope with spots AND wrinkles is not the one) I haven't found anything about this that I don't love. Yes, I'm saying love as I really do think it lives up to the hype, and is something that I would happily buy again. The pot is 50ml, and I anticipate that it will last me at least 6 months if not longer, based on using it 3 times a week. I'm often quite generous when it comes to the amount of product I apply, however the spatula provided somehow makes me take less which is a good thing as it will last me even longer.

Oskia exfoliating balm is available on the Oskia website (find it here) and retails for £48.
