Makeup | SEVENTEEN Blogger Network Event

Last week I was lucky enough to be invited to the first ever SEVENTEEN blogger network event in London, so today I thought I would share with you a little round up of the evening. The Boot's makeup brand has been around since the 60's, and over the years has transformed from a brand that was solely aimed at teenagers, to a slick, on trend one that rivals it's competitors on the market. Since it's most recent re launch and makeover, SEVENTEEN now offers sophisticated packaging, amazing dupes and on trend products (they got straight on the contouring bandwagon, FYI) and all at super affordable prices. So of course I jumped at the chance to attend, and to learn a bit more about their products.

The event was held in near Piccadilly, in central London, and was an evening of makeup, networking and of course, picture taking. It was lovely to meet some other beauty bloggers and the team behind SEVENTEEN, plus it was a great opportunity to try out some of the latest products in the amazing mirrored makeup stations. There were makeup artists on hand to help us bloggers create the perfect makeup look, and there was also a chance to get your nails painted at the super cute nail bar, so it was basically every girls' perfect evening!

Aside from the products themselves, the highlight of the evening was watching makeup tutorials by makeup artist and SEVENTEEN brand ambassador Vanesa Guallar. Vanesa covered some of the key looks for the season, including 'Glamorous Goth' where she used SEVENTEEN'S 'The Big Smoke' eyeshadow palette and 'mega matte' lipstick in the colour 'Rioja Your World,' to create a bold, smoky look, and 'Sci- fi skin,' where the focus was on glowing beauty and bold brows. For this, Vanesa used illuminating products including 'WOW! Highlighter' to create dewy skin, then made a feature of the brows by adding definition with 'Brow's That!' brow kit.

If the makeup tutorials weren't exciting enough, throughout the evening, beauty blogger and YouTuber Katie Snooks gave talks about her rise to blogger fame and the hurdles along the way, as well as dishing out some top tips. As a relatively new blogger myself, it was great to hear from someone who has an established blog (Katie started hers seven years ago) and to how she got to where she is today, plus I found all of her tips so helpful. Katie regularly writes for the SEVENTEEN blog, as well as running her YouTube channel and blog, so make sure you check her out if you haven't already done so.

Onto the products. Throughout the makeup tutorials, and whilst browsing the makeup stations, I made a mental 'must have' list of all the products I loved. As mentioned previously, one of the things that SEVENTEEN are great at is offering affordable dupes of cult products, and one of the best examples of this is 'Wow! Concealer.' With it's shiny gold packaging, at first glance you may be mistaken in thinking it is 'Touche Eclat' by YSL, however at £4.99, it is a fifth of the price. Available in shades fair and medium, the concealer mimics YSL's cult product by concealing and highlighting, and is best used on the under eye area. According to launch day sales, one was sold every single minute, and after getting one myself and using it for a few days, I can already see why and am loving it so far.

Another product that caught my eye was the brand's newest launch, 'Mega Matte' lipsticks, which went on sale at the beginning of this month. With matte lips being literally everywhere at the moment, SEVENTEEN have launched the collection of twelve shades, including the perfect, pinks, reds and nudes, and also some braver shades such as lilac and deep purple. SEVENTEEN claims that they add bold colour without drying the lips, and last 13 hours so they sounds pretty amazing. I was lucky enough to get my hands on six of the shades and have been trying them out of the past few days, so keep your eyes peeled for a blog post about these beauties.

I'd love to hear what you think of SEVENTEEN products- what are your favourites?

  1. I was so sad I couldn't come along to this, it looked like so much fun! But I am just too far away up here in scotland! I love the whole Seventeen Range :)

    1. Hi Erin, thanks so much for your comment. Ah that's such a shame. I'm very lucky (and probably take it for granted) that I live so close to London. Saying that, though, I bet there are lots of lovely events going on up there? x

  2. Looks like you had a lovely time! I really like your striped dress :)

    1. Hi Shannon, thank you for your comment. My dress is only Missguided- they do lots of other colours as well x
