Makeup | NYX Lip Lingerie Matte Lipstick Review

I fell in love with NYX cosmetics when I discovered their soft matte lip cream products (you can read my review here), so when they launched their Lip Lingerie collection, I just knew I had to get my hands on some! Dubbed as 'Kylie lip kit dupes' and described as a weightless lipstick with a matte finish, I couldn't wait to try them, and treated myself to 5 of the 12 shades to review.

First up, the consistency. I mentioned in my previous post that one of the things I loved about NYX lip creams was their soft texture which doesn't dry the lips, and like the lip creams, these give a gorgeous matte finish to the lips, without drying them out at all. The applicator is very much like a lip gloss one, and I find the best way to apply is to start by tracing a light line around the lips with a lipliner, then take your applicator, brush off any excess product and apply to the lips in thin layers. For me, one layer allows me to achieve my desired look, but the great thing about these is that you can build up the layers, if needed, or if you want a slightly more dramatic look.

As mentioned at the start of this post, these beauties have been dubbed 'Kylie Lip Kit dupes,' but at only £6.50 they are a snip of the price, as Kylie's much desired offerings retail for around $29 (approx £21.) The plastic tube and black text certainly look similar, as do some of the colours, and although I have not tried 'Kylie Lip Kit' myself (they sell out so fast- the struggle is real!) I have heard through the grapevine that many bloggers and makeup artists actually prefer NYX's lipsticks.

Below are swatches and descriptions of the 5 shades I chose, from lightest to darkest. The collection offers 12 different nude shades (I personally think you can never have too many nude lipsticks in your makeup bag!) plus nude lips are everywhere right now, so all of these shades are so on trend. These really are so easy to apply during the day- their light texture and buildable colour mean that I often apply without a mirror, much lip I would a lip balm or gloss. I wouldn't dream of doing the same with a traditional lipstick, particularly a matte one as it would definitely go everywhere.

Satin Ribbon- A classic nude
Lace Detail- A pink toned nude
Corset- A muted brown
Honeymoon- A chocolate brown
Embellishment- A berry with brown undertones

Top to Bottom: Satin Ribbon, Lace Detail, Corset, Honeymoon, Embellishment.

My verdict? I love them! The colour range is just gorgeous, they are easy to apply, don't dry your lips out and best of all they stay put all day. I definitely want to add some more colours to my collection so keep your eyes peeled for another post to follow this one! NYX lip lingerie are available in selected Boots stores nationwide, but you can also buy them online.

    1. Hi again Liv! Oh no, you're not having much luck with makeup and your local stores!! I love the soft matte lip creams also and did a post about these a little while ago- my faves are 'Stockholm' and 'Abu Dhabi.'
