Benefit Party Poppers Advent Calendar Review | Days 7-12

Happy Christmas Eve everyone! Today I opened the last door of my Benefit Party Poppers advent calendar, and as much as I have loved my first ever beauty calendar, I will not miss the musical tune that it plays- yep, it's safe to say I am pretty much fed up of Benefit's version of the 12 days of Christmas! If you haven't already read it, you can catch up with what was behind doors 1-6 here, and read on to see what was behind the last 6 doors...

If I'm honest I go in an out of phases when it comes to face primer. I haven't been using one for a while, but I have heard so much hype about this product that I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. This tinted primer is designed to smooth skin and reduce the appearance of pores and lines, and I found that my skin instantly felt and looked much smoother straight after application. When it comes to staying power, however, I didn't find that this made my makeup stay any longer than if I'd gone without, so for me this isn't a product I would necessarily buy again. I do have friends who swear by it so I think perhaps my foundation isn't a good match for it, so I may try it alongside a Benefit foundation to see if there is a difference. I also think that if you are the type of lady who likes to go without makeup once in a while (I am definitely not) this product would be a good addition to your makeup bag as being tinted, it just adds a little improvement to your own skin.

I've been wanting to try this for a while so was delighted to see it behind window number 8. Described as a 'soft focus highlighter,' this cream to powder formula provides the perfect subtle glow to the skin- simply apply along the nose and to the cheekbones, cupids bow and beneath eyebrows then blend in with your fingers or a beauty blender. Use over foundation and under powder for the most long lasting results.

Day 9- BADgal Lash Mascara
Seeing as I already got 'They're Real' mascara behind door 5, I was surprised to get another mascara in my calendar. BADgal lash claims to give 'full, volumised lashes' and has a very large brush which apparently helps this. Personally, I prefer a smaller brush as I find you can get more definition and are able coat the lashes better, however as promised my lashes appeared bolder after just one coat.

Day 10-Hoola Ultra Plush Lip Gloss
The second lip gloss I got in my calendar is the Hoola ultra plush gloss (the first being Sugarbomb) which is a shimmering golden nude. I've used Hoola bronzer before which I have found to be quite a 'dirty' brown, so I anticipated the gloss to be a similar shade, however was pleased to find it is more of a nude than a brown. This looks great on it's own as it adds a tiny hint of colour to the lips, and it can also be worn over lipstick for a more intense look.

Day 11-They're Real Makeup Remover
So I completely didn't realise that They're Real mascara was waterproof...apparently it is, and this remover is designed to get every last bit off with ease. It has a creamy gel formula, and unlike lots of other removers, it is really gentle on the eyes. I put a little amount on a cotton pad and then work it around the eye area in gentle motions. It doesn't leave an oily residue which is a real bonus, and a tiny amount goes a long way.

Day 12- Rockateur Cheek Powder
I love blusher, so was very happy to get the UK's number 1 blusher in my calendar, in fact this is the product I was most excited about. Suitable for all skin tones, this dusky pink powder has a slight gold sheen which, when applied to the cheekbones, highlights them perfectly. You get a really good amount, and like the other products, it is the perfect size for my handbag so I can top up my blusher throughout the day!

So, I'm a little bit sad to have reached the end of my 12 days. The calendar was well worth the £34 I paid all of the products are worth £79.17 collectively, which is amazing. There are a few things that I probably won't use again (my mum will be happy about this as they will be going to her!) but it's been great to try and test some of Benefit's most loved products.
