What's In My Makeup Bag?

I love a good 'what's in my makeup bag' post, and when I discover a new blog it's always what I search for first. I love picking up tips and discovering new products, and without fail I always add another product (or five) to my makeup wishlist which may not be good for my bank balance but is amazing for my makeup bag! Today I thought I would treat you all to a little insight into my makeup bag and what I wear on a daily basis. I use a mix of high street a higher end products- I do love my Mac but if I find a cheaper alternative that works just as well I will happily snap it up!

Estee Lauder Double Wear- 'Rattan 2W2'
Foundation is definitely my favourite item in my makeup bag- I feel completely naked without it, and so much more 'me' once my base is applied. I started using Double Wear foundation about a year ago and haven't looked back since. I put a 10p sized amount on the back of my hand and work it into my face with my trusty real techniques buffing brush, which gives me the desired 'skin on skin' finish. This 'stay in place' foundation offers a medium to full coverage, an amazing 12 hour staying power and contains SPF10. At £30 it is at the higher end of the foundation spectrum, however in my opinion it is worth every penny.

Mac Select Moisturecover Concealer- NC20
This concealer is my absolute favourite for covering blemishes. I dot it onto the the areas that need help (!) then blend it into the skin with a beauty blender. I also like to mix a bit of this with L'oreal Lumi Maqique Concealer in medium which I use under my eyes to cover dark circles. The 2 products together not only conceal but also brighten the under eye area for a flawless finish.

 Mac Select Sheer Powder- NC30
This Mac powder has been my long standing favourite for so many years. It keeps my foundation and concealer in place all day and banishes any shine, whilst allowing the skin to breathe. I apply this with a large powder brush and I always carry this in my handbag for any touch ups throughout the day.

Kiko Milano Perfecting Bronzer- Light/ Medium
I am new to the Kiko Milano party (read my review of the 'Rebel Romantic' collection here) but absolutely adore this gorgeous bronzer as it's not too dark and doesn't have the orange undertones that many other high street brands do. I sweep my powder brush across it, dust off the excess and apply to all the places that the sun would naturally catch. It is also a great colour for contouring.

 Mac Mineralise Blush- Dainty
This is my all time favourite Mac blusher, I adore it so much! At £22, it is a bit on the pricey side, but it lasts for absolutely ages as you only need to apply the tiniest amount. It's a gorgeous pink colour with a slight shimmer, and it goes on like a dream. I apply it to the apples of my cheeks and blend outwards along my cheekbones for a soft pink English rose finish.

I heart makeup highlighter- Goddess of Love
If you have read my previous post about this amazing product (check it out here) you will know how much I adore this highlighter. I apply it under the brow bone, along the nose and on the cheekbones for a gorgeous subtle glow. This shade is the most perfect champagne colour that would suit most skin tones whether you are fair like me or darker skinned.

Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade- Light Brown
I discovered this amazing product last year and it is a complete game changer. I put a small amount on the back of my hand to warm it slightly, then I apply it to my brows in small brush strokes with an eyebrow brush. I usually finish by running a clear brow gel through my brows to ensure there are no lumps (this product does have a tendency to go lumpy if you apply straight from the pot- try the back of the hand trick as it helps!)

Urban Decay Naked 2 Pallette
Possibly every beauty blogger on the planet has reviewed and swatched this so I don't need to tell you the reasons why I love it so much! I don't always wear eyeshadow in the day, so if I do I tend to stick to brown shades with a slight shimmer, and this palette has plenty of them to chose from. The only thing I don't like about this palette is the brush it comes with, which I have never really used.

Mac Superslick Eyeliner- 'On the Hunt'
This waterproof eyeliner is completely budge proof and it is the only one I have ever used that lasts all day. It has a 'felt tip' nip which makes it so easy to use- I apply along my lash line, and over the years have finally nailed the perfect flick! I'm going for a more natural makeup look, I sometimes use the brown colour ('Definitely Feline') which gives a softer finish. Unlike other brands, this does not dry up after a few uses and lasts so long so it's great value for money.

 Maybelline Lash Sensation Waterproof Mascara
When it comes to mascara, I am all about the drugstore brands. I have tried more expensive ones in the past, but I've never found one I loved, so I always end up coming back to the cheaper alternatives. I picked up this Maybelline one purely becomes it was on offer, but I'm really impressed- it adds great volume and length to my lashes, without the 'clumpy' look that I hate. Another favourite of mine is Maxfactor False Lash Effect which really gives my lashes a much needed boost.

Mac 'Velvet Teddy' Lipstick & Mac Soar Lip Pencil
The 'Kylie Jenner lip' is without fail my lip of choice for daytime- I just can't get enough of it! After lining my lips with Mac Soar lip pencil, I use a lip brush and fill my lips with this 'must have' lipstick. I also love this combo if I have gone for a smokey eye as it adds colour and definition without being too overpowering.

Makeup Revolution Pro Fix Oil Control Makeup Spray
Once I'm happy with the final look, I tip my head back slightly and spritz my face with this water based spray, then let it dry. The water particles evaporate which makes your makeup 'cling' to your face, giving it real staying power. At £5 this is so affordable, and it contains the same ingredients as the more expensive alternatives that are around at the moment.

So there you have it, my everyday makeup bag. I'd love to hear what you think and whether you also use any of these products!

Love, Beth xxx

  2. Great post! I definitely need to order the Anastasia dip brow pomade as I've been using Benefit Browzings for about two years now and it has come to the end of it's life! Velvet teddy is a classic and a staple in my make-up bag! I love wearing 'faux' over the top of it! xx

    1. Thanks for your comment Ciara. I've heard that the new makeup brand 'Freedom' do a dip brow pomade dupe for next to nothing, I'm thinking of trying it for when I run out of ABH. I've never tried 'Faux' before, may have to try this!! x
