Hello lovelies!

Today I'm back to the makeup posts, and reviewing this amazing triple baked highlighter from 'I heart makeup' which is a sub brand of Makeup Revolution. My favourite powder highlighter (Lighscapade by Mac) is about to run out so I was delighted when I stumbled across this one. I've been using Lightscapade for about 3 years now, and am probably most loyal to it because there weren't that many others about when I started using it. Fast forward 3 years and strobing is everywhere, which means that powder highlighters have been catapulted into our lives. Yep, now practically every brand from budget through to high end offers a compact filled with glowing loveliness!

Now I know you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover and all that, but have you seen the packaging?? How cute is the little heart shaped box? One of the things I love about Makeup Revolution is that the majority of their products come in outer boxes which makes them feel so much more premium- I can't think of any other high street brands that do this. Also, strangely enough there is something about the box being cardboard as opposed to plastic that makes it seem more desireable.

So moving on from the packaging and onto the product itself- this highlighter is literally a heart shaped dream. The colour I chose (simply called 'Goddess of Love') has champagne hues with highlights of pink opal- perfect for my fair complexion. I apply it to the bridge of my nose, cupids bow, to the top of my cheekbones and underneath my eyebrows using my Real Techniques contour brush from the core collection set, then blend it in using a the large buffing brush from the same set. The powder is highly pigmented which is great, however you need to be careful not to put too much on- there's a fine line between strobing and looking completely shiny! A little tip is to tap off the excess powder onto the back of your hand before applying to the face. I also always apply translucent powder first as this offers a better base- it's always harder to blend this type of product if you put it straight on top of foundation.

Since I bought this last week it has completely replaced my Mac fave and has become part of my daily makeup routine. The range also offers 6 'Blushing Hearts' blushers and 3 'Summer of Love' bronzers all in the same cute packaging- the blushers are a total dupe of Too Faced 'Sweethearts Blush' and a fraction of the price. Because of how much I love this highlighter, I can't wait to try the bronzers and blushers as well- watch this space for a blog post! Makeup Revolution, you have gained yet another spot in my makeup bag!

All highlighters are available from Makeup Revolution or Superdrug and retail for £4.99.

Have you tried any of the MUR highlighters? I'd love to hear what you thought.

Love, Beth xxx

  1. Oh this is such a beautiful highlighter! I've loved the look of these highlighters and blushers for a while now, especially their packaging, and I'm a bit unsure why I've left it so long before picking one up - definitely need to change that soon :) x

Great point about applying translucent powder first, over foundation - I tend to forget this step!
