Topshop Airbrush Primer Review

Until a couple of years ago, I saw primer as one of these non essential makeup items that just adds time to your routine, cost to your makeup bag and doesn’t really have a visible result. Fast forward a couple of years and I am now obsessed with the stuff. I don’t know what changed my mind about primer, I think I just heard my friend raving on about how good Smashbox photo finish primer was and I was sold. When I heard how it would ‘smooth my skin, reduce fine lines and wrinkles AND make my foundation sit smoother’ I couldn’t wait to invest. My little legs took me to my local Boots and before I knew it I had shelled out £25.50 (!) on said primer.

Since then I have dabbled in a fair few brands, from high street to premium, and have recently purchased the Topshop Beauty Airbrush Primer. I have been a big Topshop beauty fan for a while (their products are SO good for a fashion brand- definitely the best out there in my opinion) and this £12 primer promises to ‘blur imperfections and erase the appearance of pores in an instant.’ Packaging wise, I love the simplicity of the Topshop beauty branding, and the magpie in me was instantly drawn in by the silver metallic box. The tube itself contains 30ml of primer (this is a standard size for this type of product) and you need the teeniest bit so I envisage this will last around 6 months.
I applied the clear gel over moisturiser with my fingertips, paying special attention to my nose and chin (for some reason these are the places where makeup seems to vanish first on me) and was instantly impressed with how smoothly it went on, and how sparingly the product needed to be used. My skin felt silky soft, and although there was no way I would go out with just this on (Topshop suggest you can do this) it provided a gorgeous base for my foundation. As promised my pores did appear smaller, and although my lines didn't exactly vanish, they definitely did seem to be less noticeable. I'm not sure whether that is to do with the 'photo-reflecting particles' or just the velvety finish but either way I'm not complaining!

The verdict? I am really impressed with this product, and can see it fast becoming a staple in my daily makeup routine. It target's that mid range price point and compliments my Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation perfectly.

This is also available in a colour correcting version to banish redness.

What do you think ladies? Have you tried this and love it as well?
Love, Beth xxx
